Originally a contemporary furniture maker working mainly in European hardwoods, Tony taught himself photography and decided to combine the two disciplines in order to realise his conceptual ideas.

Tony creates artificial structures and spaces to photograph people and objects within them to express the artificial worlds of his imagination. Tony’s creations are minimalist and abstract, and aim to transform seemingly familiar environments, objects and settings to produce a sense of tension, intimacy and truth. Through the use of the photographic image, Tony explores the manipulation of evidence through abstract gestures. Tony’s images are reminiscent of documentary photography yet celebrate the sculptural and filmic.
