Graham Hutchinson: Collected Drawings

15/4/2011

This exhibition is a product of Graham’s residency at Bank Street Arts. The exhibition will consist of collected drawings that have been created by the Sheffield public. Graham visited various venues across the city collecting drawings from people and is exhibiting the results.

Graham’s idea is influenced by the ideas and work of Joseph Beuys and Marcel Duchamp. Beuys infamously claimed “everyone is an artist”, something that sparked great debate. Duchamp used found objects, coining the term ‘readymades’; work that he did not create with his own hands. In a similar vein, Graham has not drawn anything that will be included in the exhibition. This offers the exhibition space to the public creating a new platform for a new audience.

A Private View for Graham Hutchinsons: Collected Drawings will be held on Friday 15th April 6.30-8.30.
